April 24 Message from Principal King

Lister Families,

Visit: First, I wanted to share with you that on Thursday, Lister Elementary was visited by the Deputy Secretary from the United States Department of Education, Cindy Marten. You may have seen us on the news! It was a big deal for us to be able to highlight our work in Social Emotional Learning and receive national attention for it. We have the best students, families and staff and I was so proud to show us off.

Walking Routes: Lister's NEW suggested walking route map is available. Check out the map using the button below or visit our contact page, to help your family plan your walking route to school! Use the safety tips on the second page to discuss safe walking, biking, and driving behaviors with your student.

State Testing: We are getting ready to take the big state test you have put on hold the last two springs due to COVID known as the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA). Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be participating this year. We will begin testing of May 16th. We are in need of nutritious snacks and water bottles for students. If you are willing to donate and send snacks we can start accepting them at any time from now through the end of May. Water bottles, granola bars, any individually wrapped crackers, string cheese, cutie oranges, etc. You can drop them off in the main office. We appreciate your help if you are able!

Swan Creek Park Celebration: Lister is partnering with Metro Parks to celebrate the new Swan Creek Park. On Saturday, April 30th, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM, Metro Parks will be providing free food, nature walks and more. Join us at the new entrance off of T Street. The entrance is located behind Lister. Head down T Street like you would be entering Lister’s back parking lot and valet area but keep going straight instead of turning into Lister. Save the date! We hope to see you there!

Brown Bear Car Wash Tickets: Lister is selling Brown Bear Car Wash Tickets for an ASB fund raiser! The tickets are $10 each and they can be redeemed at any location throughout Washington state. There is no expiration date. You can come to the office and pay cash, credit or check or you can purchase through the Family App and My School Bucks and then pick up in our main office.

Individual Picture Retake: There is another opportunity to do individual picture retakes if your child has not had their individual pictures done yet this year on Saturday April 30th from 10:00am-2:00pm at Leo’s photography in Auburn. The address is 341 E Main Street, Auburn, WA 98002.

Have a great day Lister Lions.
