June 23rd Message from Principal Harris

Hello Lions,

The 2023-2024 school year is over. We are so thankful for your partnership this year. Our students made great growth and we are so proud of them.

We will kickoff the 2024-2025 school year with our Ice Cream Social on Thursday, September 5th from 4:00-5:00. This will be an opportunity for students to get their teacher assignments, see their classrooms and familiar faces.

We look forward to a great 2024-2025 school year. First day of class is Monday, September 9th.

Reminder, school start and end times have changed for next year. Please see new schedule and other important information in the updates section below.

Have a great summer!

School start times for 24-25 school year

The bell schedule will shift for most schools in our school district this fall. The need for a more efficient bus route system drove the change. The shift reduces the number of bus routes, which will save about $1 million in transportation costs per year.

Starting on the first day of school Monday, September 9, 2024, the schedule for our school is:

·       Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8:40-3:10

o   Breakfast starts at 8:25

o   Class starts at 8:40

o   Class ends at 3:10

·       Wednesday: 9:40-3:10

o   Breakfast starts at 9:25

o   Class starts at 9:40

o   Class ends at 3:10

We will continue to do cash, debit, or credit in the office thru Wednesday, June 26th and distribute them at the time of purchase.  No cash sales on June 27th.  You can still purchase yearbooks on June 27th but with debit or credit only.

After the last day of school, online sales will remain open throughout the Summer.  You are welcome to pick them up during office hours listed below.  After June 27th, we will be unable to distribute them until the office re-opens again for the following school year in late August.

Laptops for Summer

This summer, students can use an online program called iReady to keep their skills engaged. Summer iReady is an extension of the iReady program that students use during the school year.

Students access iReady through Clever in the "TPS Favorites" folder in their browser.

What to do with your child’s laptop over the summer
All students can keep their school-issued laptop at home over the summer. (Please note, families of kindergarten students who want to have their laptop over the summer need to fill out Student Laptop Checkout form with our school.)

Families of students in kindergarten through second grade can store their child’s school laptop at their school over the summer.

If your child is changing schools within TPS, they will need to keep their laptop over the summer and take it with them to their new school (for example, fifth-graders moving to middle school).

We will issue laptops during office hours this week. The last opportunity to get a laptop will be Thursday, June 27th. Starting July 1st the office will be closed of the summer.

Lister Library Update:

All library books are due back to the library.  You should have received an email if your student still has books out.  All books still out have been marked as 'lost' and a fine added to their account.  When it is returned the fine will be removed.  Check under beds, on shelves, in the car, etc.  and get them brought in!

Tacoma Public Library has a Summer Reading Challenge that students heard about this week.  They can participate in some fun programs and continue to read all summer long.  Students will be bringing home a bookmark with information about signing up.  If you would like to know more, or want to sign up online, visit the Tacoma Public Library website: 2024 Summer Reading | Tacoma Public Library (tacomalibrary.org)
