Beyond the Bell

Summer Beyond the Classroom for elementary school (finishing grades K-5)

Registration opens April 29 for "Summer Beyond the Classroom" programs available to TPS elementary school students this summer. Programs are similar to Beyond the Bell – run by Metro Parks Tacoma in Tacoma’s schools.

Programs run weekly, Monday-Thursday, from July 1 to Aug. 8. (closed July 4 in observation of Independence Day). Families may pick the location that works best for them and must provide their own transportation.

Elementary (finishing grades K-5)

  • Locations: Franklin, Lister, Manitou and Northeast Tacoma elementary schools 
  • Morning session: 9 a.m.-12 p.m. 
  • Afternoon session: 12:30-3:30 p.m.
  • Lunch is included and served at 12 p.m. Lunch is only provided for those enrolled in both morning and afternoon sessions.  
  • Families can register for the morning or afternoon session, or both.  Morning and afternoon sessions offer different themes. See the schedule and list of themes on Metro Parks website.
  • Cost: $175/week for morning or afternoon. Cost for full day is $350/week.

Clubs, Activities, Sports, and Field Trips at Your School

Tacoma Public Schools and community partners have come together to offer Beyond the Bell activities for students in grades K-5 and Club B activities for students in grades 6-8. Login to your Compass: TPS Family App account and visit the activities page to see what options are available at your student's school.

When you register, you will see three payment options per session. Please select the best option based on your family’s current need.

Beyond the Bell activities take place at all of Tacoma’s elementary schools from 3:30-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.
